Mind Your Business...

Logistics,—that is.

Why are business logistics so important? Well, because they are hella important, vital to your success. Client intake system and management. That’s part of logistics. Project planning—that includes logistics. Payment processing—definitely logistics.

You’ve likely landed here because you are either considering starting your own business or already have annnnnd, it’s no where near as glamorous as you thought it would be. You may find yourself buried under what you’re classifying as ‘administrative’ busy work, but if you ask me for my opinion—(and even if you didn’t) what I would say is that those tasks are simply logistic opportunities unrealized. What are logistics other than the way one coordinates specific tasks that involve executing and process to get to a specific outcome.

From experience ‘administrative’ tasks become more than a nuisance when things are just done without thought as to what steps happen between starting and finishing a task. Consider this—let’s say you’re preparing a new recipe. Before you even begin cooking, you likely have to double check the pantry to make sure you have all the ingredients and once you begin you painstakingly read the recipe between every step and pull up as many YouTube videos as possible to double check that everything looks as it should be. That first time takes a lot longer than the recipe notes—and let’s be real, there are way too many dirty dishes. The more you make that same recipe, the faster you get, the more the steps become second nature and you start to know when you can merge steps, wha you want to leave out or substitute based on your preferred taste until the process becomes second nature and easy—and fast.

The recipe didn’t transform —-your understanding of the outcome (the dish) and how to get there became clearer and thus you became more efficient at preparing it. Those first few times you had to pay attention to every single step that you did until you learned what worked and what didn’t and eventually you adapt it to become your own.

The same can be said for your business logistics. Just some food for thought.
